A dance exploration of the female psyche evokes the sense of re-awakening of wild female instincts, of the deep spirit of woman – identified in Mexican tradition with la loba, the she wolf of the desert. The soundscape has been composed from a field recording by Jack Loeffler of the cries of Mexican wolves communicating across an arroyo (dry stream bed) in the Sonoran Desert to coyotes on the other side. The progressively disintegrating image of the woman combined with the mysterious cries of the desert animals is at once disturbing and ecstatic – a pathway to an altered state of consciousness.
